Hyderabad Rain Emergency
Relief
Torrential rain in Hyderabad and adjoining
areas in Sindh, leaves a trail of tragedies, destruction
& sufferings. Many have lost their lives and thousands
are shelterless.
Activities:
Central Relief Coordinator, Mr. Nematullah Khan (Ex-City
Nazim Karachi) has left for Hyderabad to supervise the
relief operations. He accompanied a shipment of relief
goods.
Cash donations are being collected through
Relief Fund
• Medicine worth Rs. 200,000 (Two Lacs) have been
dispatched to Tando Allah Yar.
• Al-Kidmat President Dr. Meraj ul Huda Siddiqi
has sent a team of doctors and para-medical staff along
with a mobile clinic to the affected areas.
• Volunteers of Al-Khimat Hyderabad are transferring
the affected people to the safer places where food,
shelter and other necessities are being provided to
them.
• Central Relief Coordinator, Mr. Nematullah Khan
(Ex-City Nazim Karachi) has left for Hyderabad to supervise
the relief operations. He accompanied a shipment of
relief goods.
• Secretary AlKhidmat Foundation Sindh Mr. Malik
Naeem and Mr. Syed Maqbool Alam & Mr. Fawad Sherani
of Community Relief Department along with a team of
volunteers have also left for Hyderabad.

Al-Khidmat provides immediate services in disaster
and calamities and is always first to reach at places
where suffering humanity is in need of help Al-Khidmat
is ready to take any kind of initiative to bring back
happiness to the suffered and the poor.
- Bilal Colony (Affected Due to Drainage of Dirty
Water): Relief projects worked out in Bilal Colony,
which was dangerously affected due to drainage of
dirty water.
Medical facilities, clean water and ambulance for
transferring patients were provided, 1,000 sufferers
benefited through this project.
- Machar Colony (Affected by fire): Al-Khidmat provided
food, clothes and other requirements of life in this
area affected due to fire. 500 sufferers benefited
through this emergency relief.
- Karachi and Interior Sindh (Affected by heavy rain):
In July 2003 Karachi and places of Interior Sindh
(Thatta, Badin & Tharparkar) were heavily damaged
by torrential rain, and that was a great loss of precious
lives and houses. Al-Khidmat worked for emergency
relief in these critical circumstances. 50,000 people
benefited through this project. Al-Khidmat spent Rs.
9 Million on this project.
- 30 relief camps were setup in Karachi and interior
Sindh provided shelter to 10,000 sufferers.
- These sufferers stayed for almost a week and
were provided with food, bedding, clothes and
requirement of daily lives.
- Plastic sheets were provided to protect homes
from rain.
- 40 fund raising camps were run in Karachi to
collect donations and commodities.
- Al-Khidmat helped in shifting the families
to their homes and provided ration to 10,000 families.
- Many teams moved from Karachi to Badin, Thatta
and Tharparkar to provide facilities.
- In this campaign, the kindhearted people supported
Al-Khidmat by providing articles of daily use
worth Rs. 7 million and Rs. 2 million in cash.
- GADAP (Cyclone affected area): Gadap was affected
by thunderstorm in monsoon of 2003. Approximately
100 houses were destroyed and many precious lives
were lost. Al-Khidmat played its key role in providing
food, clothes, and other requirements of life. Al-Khidmat
also provided ration to affected families.1,500 people
benefited through these camps.
- GILGIT (Affected by earthquake): Al-Khidmat helped
the sufferers by spending Rs.1,050,000. Total 5,000
sufferers benefited through this emergency relief.
- IRAN (Affected by earthquake): Fund raising camps
were run in Karachi to collect donations and commodities.
Al-Khidmat generated and contributed an amount of
Rs.800,000 in this regard.
